Hello and welcome to the Virtual Pets discussion forum, a safe place for everyone who enjoys virtual creatures to chat, trade items through their chosen websites and make some friends. (Or at least gifting buddies.)
Like all communities, VP has some rules which you are required to follow at all times. Breaking rules will result in warnings, which will become bans. (See below for more information.) Virtual pets have historically been taken care of by a younger crowd, and as a result, there are new members joining every day who are often far more youthful then those of you who have been in the crowd for years. As a result, the VP forums are designed to be family friendly and any attempts to harass or make difficult the lives of our members will be punished.
Without further ado, please keep in the mind the following rules;
These rules do not cover every situation and we may take action against anything we feel damages the community. New rules may be added at any time and previous ones are subject to change. It is not our job to personally inform you when these occurrences happen and you would do well to check the topic's description from time to time to see the last update time.
We also mentioned above about warnings and bans. Rule breaking can and will result in a warning, which will include a note and discussion with a staff member, and a hidden warning level added to your account. Each warning will add up over time until it hits one hundred (100), at which time the member will be issued a ban, which will mean a member can not login, post messages, send PMs or use the forum until the ban is up. The warnings will be reset to nothing after this ban (which will vary in length depending on what the staff deem best). If a person is found to repeatedly being banned - and often - they may be permanently banned and not allowed to return or make a new account.
In some situations, a person or persons may be temporarily banned with or without an added warning. This will normally not last long and may simply serve the purpose of allowing heated discussions or arguments to die after a cool-down period. Temporary bans will not count towards permanent bans, unless they happen too frequently.
If in any way, the rules are unclear, we suggest contacting a staff member for questions or posting in a reverent board. We wish everyone the best of luck on the forums.

Without further ado, please keep in the mind the following rules;
- Play Nice. Please respect or at least tolerate your fellow members. If you have issues with another member, you can ask - and you should ask - a moderator to help mediate the situation. Insults, arguments, harassment or any other form of creating an uncomfortable experience for members will result in punishment. Please note retaliating, attempting to take revenge or harassing back will result in the victim's punishment as well.
- Don't Spam. Spam is considered to be any message that is overly annoying, completely pointless or is entirely off-topic. This is your forum and you should keep it clean. Please report any such messages you find.
- Keep Post Content Clean. As previously mentioned, there are many younger members of the virtual pet ownership communities in general, and as per the agreement of our forum host, we ask you to keep all content PG13. This means all discussions of mature, explicit or adult topics, extreme violence, talk of illegal activities and/or swearing is strictly prohibited and if this rule is abused, can result in instant bans. Please use common sense - we may not censor the forum, but that does not give you the right to abuse that privilege.
- Follow Individual Board Rules. Many sections of the board have their own rules or guidelines to follow, due to the content in these boards. If you post in these boards, you are required to follow those rules. (No, there is not a loophole if you post that board's content elsewhere)
- DON'T BREAK A VIRTUAL PET SITE'S RULES! We can not stress enough how important it is to follow the rules of the websites you are signed up for. VP forums can get in trouble if you bring these things here. We may, in situations we feel need it, report you to the site whose rules' you broke if necessary. We are here to play, not cause problems.
